Get ready for a hit to your budget! Netflix is raising its subscription prices for users in the U.S. and Canada. With increases across its plans—including options with and without ads—subscribers will soon notice a difference on their monthly bills of $1 – $2.50.

Whether you’re binge-watching your favorite series or catching up on blockbuster movies, it’s important to know how these changes might affect you and why they’re happening. Here’s everything you need to know about Netflix’s new pricing, why the hike is happening, and your options moving forward.

  • First price increase since introduction in 2023

Why The Change?

From a record-breaking 19 million new subscribers in late 2024 to viral hits like “Squid Game” season two, Netflix is riding high on its programming success—and seemingly they’re adjusting prices to match.

According to Netflix, the increase supports their growing content library and new features. With hits like a historic Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match last November and NFL games streaming for the first time on Christmas Day, Netflix’s appeal seems stronger than ever.

“As we continue to add more TV shows and movies and introduce new product features, our plans and prices may change,” reads a statement in Netflix’s help center
