Sweet, Savory, and Festive: The Best of Trader Joe’s Holiday Goodies

Post Featured Image

The holidays are here, and so is Trader Joe’s December Fearless Flyer, bursting with goodies to make your season bright. From sweet indulgences to savory crowd-pleasers, TJ’s has something to make everyone smile. Here are the top picks we’re adding to our carts this year!

Sweet Treats for the Season

Mini Gingerbread People

A fun take on a staple of the season, these Mini Gingerbread People are oh-so-cute with just the right amount of crunch. Dunk them in your hot cocoa or coffee for a decadent treat. Even if these are your cookie of choice, you have to admit the video of them being made is quite mesmerizing. $4.49 for one pound of cookies

Cocoa Truffles Collection

Trader Joe’s Cocoa Truffles are one item we look forward to year after year. The addictive cocoa truffles are rich and creamy with a light coating of cocoa powder. So imagine our excitement at this Cocoa Truffles Collection. A take on the popular truffles, this box comes with four flavors: Fizzy with crackling candy inside; Popcorn as a buttery treat; Cookie with bits of cookie pieces; and Raspberry for a tart truffle twist. And they’re from France – ooh, lala! $4.99 for approximately 24 truffles

Petit Fours Mousse Cakes

Another fancy find are these Petit Fours Mousse Cakes which look almost too good to eat… almost. There are three styles included – the first is chocolate cake layered with chocolate mousse and covered in dark chocolate; the second is vanilla cake layered with vanilla mousse and covered in vanilla coating topped with pearl sugar; and the third is chocolate cake layered with coffee mousse and covered with mocha coating topped with bits of dark chocolate. These bite-sized treats will be the hit of the dessert table so make sure to keep them hidden until after dinner. $4.99 for a box of nine

Egg Nog and O’ Nog

Another traditional treat at the holidays has to be Egg Nog. Whether you enjoy a creamy cup on its own or spike it with a little rum, it’s a great pre- or post-dinner drink. It’s available in regular and light varieties. TJ’s is also treating vegan revelers to the good stuff this year with O’Nog – an oat-based version that still includes the tinges of ginger and nutmeg. $3.49 for a carton of Egg Nog; $2.99 for a carton of O’Nog

Savory Staples You’ll Love

Organic Peeled & Cooked Chestnuts

Somewhere between savory and sweet lie these tasty brown fruits. The Organic Peeled & Cooked Chestnuts ready-to-use out of the package in stuffing, salads, or – as Trader Joe’s suggests – combined with roasted Brussels sprouts and sauteed in butter or olive oil. $4.99 per package

Potato Pancakes

Now that we’re onto the savory stuff, these Potato Pancakes (aka latkes) are a must-have for your freezer during the holiday season. They cook up beautifully in a skillet or air fryer with a golden brown crisp and a soft center. They can be served a variety of ways morning, noon or night. We’ve had them as a traditional side dish with dinner topped with apple sauce and sour cream and they stole the show. $3.29 for a package of eight.

Mini Mushroom Tartelettes

Another item to have on standby in your freezer are the Mini Mushroom Tartelettes. They are easy to cook, don’t require utensils, and keep your guests happy before the main meal (or as part of it). They’re made with white and shiitake mushrooms, garlic, shallots, and Parmesan and ricotta cheeses. $5.49 for a package of 12

Snack Bar Mixes

With the busy-ness of the holiday season, you’ll wanna keep your pantry stuff with plenty of snacks. A handful of the Step Up to the Snack Bar Mix goes a long way with its pub snack blend of honey mustard pretzel pieces, chili lemon corn sticks, honey roasted peanuts, and cheddar rocket crackers. Then there’s the Stepping It Up Spicy Snack Bar Mix which includes sweet jalapeño pretzel pieces, spicy cheese corn sticks, spiced chile almonds, and crispy chile lemon corn nuggets. We suggest putting them both out with the hors d’oeuvres – just make sure you label the spicy one and keep it away from the littles. $5.99 for each 11.5-ounce canister

With treats like these, Trader Joe’s makes holiday shopping fun and delicious. So grab your list, check it twice, and stock up on these seasonal specialties before they’re gone!
