Starbucks Discontinuing 13 Drinks – What They Are and What To Order Instead

Picture of the entrance of a Starbucks location

Starbucks is making significant changes to its menu, aiming to enhance service efficiency, especially during busy morning hours. Starting Monday, March 4, 2025, the company will remove 13 beverages from its offerings. This initiative is part of a broader plan to reduce menu items by approximately 30% by the end of the fiscal year 2025 in the U.S., allowing for a more streamlined experience and making way for new items.

For those who have cherished these soon-to-be-discontinued drinks, we’ve compiled a list of alternatives to satisfy your taste buds.

Frappuccinos Leaving the Menu

A significant number of the beverages being phased out are variations of the beloved Frappuccino. Here are the nine Frappuccinos set to depart and our recommended substitutes:

Caffè Vanilla Frappuccino

For vanilla lovers, there’s the Vanilla Bean Crème Frappuccino but if you prefer caffeine in your cup try the Caramel Brulée Frappuccino.

Caramel Ribbon Crunch Crème Frappuccino

The Caramel Brulée Frappuccino is a good substitute for the Caramel Ribbon version or you can go for the simplified Caramel Frappuccino.

Chai Crème Frappuccino

If you’re sticking with tea, try the Matcha Crème Frappuccino or opt for the Chestnut Praline Crème Frappuccino to get some of the warm spice flavors you’ll be missing.

Chocolate Cookie Crumble Crème Frappuccino

The Peppermint Mocha Crème Frappuccino can be a good substitute if you don’t mind mint or opt for the Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino if you’re OK with coffee.

Double Chocolaty Chip Crème Frappuccino

The Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino might satiate your chocolate cravings if you want to include caffeine. If not, try the Caramel Brulée Crème Frappuccino for a sweet substitute.

Espresso Frappuccino

If you like a Frappuccino without a lot of bells and whistles, give the Coffee Frappuccino try.

Java Chip Frappuccino

Try the Mocha Frappuccino for a subdued substitute or the Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino for a sweeter treat.

White Chocolate Crème Frappuccino

The Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino will get you your white chocolate fix if you like peppermint, but the Sugar Cookie Almondmilk Crème Frappuccino may be a better fit.

White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino

The Sugar Cookie Almondmilk Crème Frappuccino is a good alternative as far as Crème Frappuccinos go but don’t sleep on the Caramel Brulée Frappuccino if you need the caffeine boost.

Cortado drink at Starbucks
Starbucks says the Cortado, introduced in January, has exceeded expectations.

Other Beverages Being Discontinued

Honey Almondmilk Flat White

Try the Brown Sugar Oatmilk Cortado which is a new addition that has proven to be popular.

Iced Matcha Lemonade

Give the Iced Green Tea Lemonade or Iced Matcha Latte a shot when finding your new favorite.

Royal English Breakfast Latte

The London Fog Latte could be a good substitute for tea purists or a Chai Latte if you find the warm spices appealing.

White Hot Chocolate

Try a White Chocolate Mocha instead and go for decaf if you don’t need the extra boost.

Spring menu items at Starbucks

Springtime Additions To The Menu

In tandem with these changes, Starbucks is introducing new and returning seasonal items to its menu:

  • Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Matcha: A returning drink that included dairy.
  • Iced Lavender Oatmilk Latte: Another returning item that is dairy free.
  • Iced Cherry Chai: A new drink for Chai lovers.
  • Jalapeno Chicken Pocket: A new food item available at participating locations.

While saying goodbye to familiar favorites can be bittersweet, these changes aim to enhance your Starbucks experience with more streamlined choices..
