Along with the feasting and family time of Thanksgiving, another sign of the season is sales for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. While some brand’s bargains have already begun, as of mid-November e-commerce giant Amazon had yet to announce their sale dates or what would be included this year. But that hasn’t stopped us from making some educated guesses at what might be deeply discounted and when.

It’s worth noting that in 2023, Amazon’s sale started about a week before Black Friday which falls on November 29 this year, and ran through Cyber Monday which is December 2 this year. So we could see savings start around November 22 and the sale should run for about 11 or 12 days.

While Amazon isn’t giving away too many hints about the products or timeline, their Black Friday news page mentions a few categories including tech, home goods, clothing, and toys. Sounds like your holiday wish list, doesn’t it?

As we gear up for the shopping extravaganza – whenever it arrives – here are some of the areas of Amazon we think will see deep discounts and what you might want to add to your shopping list now.

Gadgets Galore 🧑‍💻

If Amazon’s current limited deals are any indication (and we believe they are), this year’s Black Friday offers on tech items will be some of the most sought-after. Headphones, fitness trackers, wireless cameras, and, of course, Amazon’s own gadgets should see significant discounts. Here are a few items and brands we’ll be keeping an eye on.

Amazon Devices: Amazon’s tablets, TVs, Smart speakers, and more are already marked down by as much as 40%. Last year, the Echo Dot (5th Generation) was marked down from $49.99 to $22.99. Historically, their Fire TV Sticks and Fire Tablets hit their lowest prices around Black Friday and Cyber Monday. So, we wouldn’t be surprised to see some epic deals similar to these on their products this year.

Apple: Select Apple products have seen an all-time low on Amazon recently. If you’ve got a big purchase in mind for your business (or pleasure), this might be the right time of year to pull the trigger (or click the mouse, we should say). Watch for lightning deals on Apple items as they’re likely to go very quickly.

Beats by Dre: Their wireless headphones were more than half off a the beginning of the month. Will they come back down or go even lower on Black Friday and Cyber Monday? That would be music to our ears!

Smart Home Devices: Price cuts on smart speakers, security cameras, and home automation products are a staple of these seasonal sales. Home Sweet Home 🏡

Vacuums: Amazon is already running a significant deal on the Dyson V11 marked down 30% to just under $400. Dyson vacuums are known for being easy to use and providing a deep clean on all floor types. They’re especially popular for households with pets and all the woes of pet (and people) hair cleanup. We’re hoping the V11 discount is a sign of things to come and some of the other Dyson cordless vacuums will come down in price.

If you’re looking for an even easier cleaning solution, a robot vacuum cleaner might be in your future. Last year, the iRobot Roomba 694 was over 40% off marked down from $365 to $159. We expect to see some substantial savings for this category of vacuums.

KitchenAid Mixer: Rumor has it, the Kitchen Aid Mixer and its versatile attachments will see slashed prices from Amazon. If you’re hosting a holiday meal, this might be exactly what you need to upgrade your kitchen and your culinary creations.

Fun & Games 🧩

If you have kids on your shopping list there will be plenty of toys and games to pick up for the little ones when these sales hit. Here are some selections we think are worth looking out for.

STEM Learning: Just because a toy or game is fun, doesn’t mean it can’t also be educational. STEM-friendly brands we expect to see discounted include Magna-Tiles, National Geographic, and Learning Resources.

LEGO Sets: Discounts are expected on Lego sets of various sizes and skill levels. These make great gifts for kids of course, but there are plenty that will appeal to adults as well. Last year select sets saw discounts of 30%.

Games: Black Friday deals in 2023 included 30% on classic games like Catan and Uno and new favorites like Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza. We think this category will see plenty of prices plummeting this year too.

Upgrade Your Winter Wardrobe 🧥

Clothing is another category we expect to see delightfully discounted. Whether you have work parties or family gatherings to attend, chances are you’ll want some new threads this season.

Well-Known Brands: Last year, Levi’s apparel for men and women was marked down as much as 50% off and Carhartt was up to 36% off. Check your favorite brands when Black Friday rolls around because we’re sure to see some savings in this category.

Early Sales: Amazon already has “holiday fashion deals” rolling with savings in several men’s and women’s categories. Matching family pajamas are also seeing well-timed discounts for festive holiday pictures.

Tips for Shopping Amazon Black Friday and Cyber Monday Sales 📦

Prime Membership: Prime members often receive early access to deals and exclusive discounts so if you’ve been thinking about signing up for Prime, this would be the time to do it.
Lightning Deals: Keep an eye on time-sensitive Lightning Deals, which offer limited-time discounts on select items.
Price Tracking: Use tools to monitor price histories and ensure you’re getting the best deal. CamelCamelCamel can give you the price history of most Amazon items and Price.com lets you compare prices across major retailers using search or by uploading a photo of an item on its website or via the app. Each of these also have browser extensions available.
#AmazonFinds: Search the hashtag on your favorite social media platform to find real reviews from influencers who are sent Amazon products to review. Try pairing #AmazonFind with categories or specific items you’re looking for to get helpful reviews.
Alexa: Customers can also turn to Alexa on their devices for deal assistance by simply asking, “Alexa, what are my deals?” Alexa can even give proactive alerts up to 24 hours in advance for deals on items on your Wish List or in your Cart or Save for Later section. When a deal goes live, Alexa-enabled devices will notify you, and you can then ask Alexa to set a reminder for the deal or make the purchase directly by saying, “Alexa, buy it for me.”
