Baseball fans will remember Randy Johnson, a pitching legend and his utterly incredible timing. Johnson, who was known for his 100+ mph fastballs, was throwing a pitch in the seventh inning of a spring training game when a bird flew by at just the right, or wrong, moment and was hit by the ball, sadly resulting in an explosion of feathers. Now, Randy is a part of giving us something else to ponder and an additional purpose to satellite dishes by creating the ultimate baseball watching experience for birds. This latest campaign about dish-less service is inspired by this iconic moment when the MLB Hall of Fame star’s pitch and the bird accidentally collided. DirecTV has now partnered with the 6’10” baseball legend for “Bird Ballparks,” an extension of its recent “For The Birds” campaign. This will promote the ability for consumers to access DirecTV without a satellite dish while the effort turns dishes into bird sanctuaries derived from that iconic moment in 2001. A total of 10 winners receive one Miniature Baseball Stadium valued at $580 each. Plus, eight additional winners will receive a Bird Food Millet valued at $120 each!
