Looking for a fun, hands-on activity to do with your little one? Lowe’s DIY-U Kids’ Workshops offer a great opportunity for children to explore their creativity, practice fine motor skills, and learn basic tool safety—all while building something they can take home! Held once a month at Lowe’s locations across the country, these workshops provide a guided, interactive experience for kids and parents alike. Whether it’s constructing a recycling truck, assembling a mini soccer game, or crafting a charming trinket box, each project is designed to be engaging and educational. Read on to find out how you can sign up and start building lasting memories with your child!
What
Each month, Lowe’s holds a kids’ workshop in their stores for parents and their little ones to build a new craft together. Each building project is seasonally themed and/or designed to be functional, giving kids a fun and useful craft to take home. The workshops expose children to using tools safely and give them opportunities to create using fine motor skills. Craft supplies are pre-cut and pre-drilled but still allow plenty of skill-building as you and your little builder assemble them with help from Red Vest associates at Lowe’s.
Who
Lowe’s recommends their workshops for ages 4 and up. Parents and caregivers can bring up to four children per adult but will need to stay with the children and assist with their building.

When
The workshops are usually held the second or third Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There are typically four time slots to choose from:
- 10 – 10:45 a.m.
- 11 – 11:45 a.m.
- 12 – 12:45 p.m.
- 12:30 – 1 p.m.
Note: Time slots often fill up and sometimes entire workshops fill up so don’t wait to register.
Where
Find your local Lowe’s here to see where you and your family can join in the fun.
How
Registration for each workshop opens about a month before the day of the event. Find the next date here and register for it using your Lowe’s account. You’ll receive a confirmation email after you’ve registered. No Lowe’s account? No problem—sign up for free!

Become a Junior Builder and Senior Builder
Your little builder will receive an iron-on badge for each project they complete which can be attached to their DIY-U apron. When they collect six, show a Red Vest associate at Lowe’s to receive a special-edition Junior Builder badge.
When your Junior Builder collects 12 badges, you can apply for them to receive a kids tool bag as a Senior Builder! Create an account here (click on the upper right-hand corner) to submit pictures of the apron and badges (Note: This is separate from your Lowe’s account). Once accepted, your Senior Builder will get a bag with a stubby claw hammer and a 16-foot tape measure.
